Caroline with Rafael Nadal
Andy Murray didn’t stay long at Indian Wells, but I really enjoyed watching his practice session with his hitting partner, Daniel Valverde, and Darren Cahill. Though his new coach, Ivan Lendl, didn’t travel with him to Indian Wells, his mom and former coach, Brad Gilbert, were staying at my hotel. Even though he didn’t make it far in this tournament I believe Murray is going to have a great season.
UPDATE on 5 August 2012: Andy Murray is indeed having a great season! In addition to being a finalist at Wimbledon, he just won the gold medal at Wimbldeon during the London 2012 Olympics beating Roger Federer in three decisive sets, 6-2, 6-1, 6-4. Maybe the familiar refrain “Come on Andy” can now be replaced with “Way to Go Andy” or “Aces Andy”!

Rafa must have redone his grip a half a dozen times – wanted to get it just right.
Favorite shot of Rafa from this year’s tournament
His afternoon practice was a hot ticket.

A little late afternoon coaching from Francis Roig while Benito Perez Barbadillo takes a call.
If the last couple of months illustrate anything it’s that I’ve been “taking the long way” around. The reason my site has been silent since late May is that I’ve been traveling nearly non-stop for the past two months. The bad news is that I’ve had no time to document all of my adventures. The good news is that August is looking much more mellow and I’ll be able to catch up and share details about some amazing places with you. In the meantime, I wanted to provide a little preview about what’s to come!
